Pedregulho, the social housing designed by Affonso Eduardo Reidy, constructed between 1947 and 1958 and located in Rio de Janeiro, north zone, is an iconic modernist building well-known among architects. Maybe, because it is so admired, it is challenging to take a step back and examine it with other eyes, considering what it represented in that time for the academics and the community. Furthermore, one could also reflect on which new discussions it could raise today in Brazilian society, architectural production and education.
